County Jail is a more than 285-bed detention center that is operated by the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office is responsible for law enforcement and safety and security monitoring for the citizens and visitors of Cumberland County, N.C. It oversees the bureau of narcotics, school of law enforcement and community policing divisions. In 1998, Cumberland County Sheriff's Office became one of the few agencies to receive accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies in the United States. It has received the Governor's Crime Prevention Community Award for its community policing program. The office is additionally responsible for operating a 250,000-square-foot detention center. Cumberland County Sheriff's Office is located in Fayetteville, N.C.
