Bakery 28 opened March 9, 2020 one week before COVID-19 lockdown. We are blessed to have received such a warm welcome from the Lake Norman Community, which is why our doors remain open today! Thank You LKN! Chef Keli is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and was the first assistant to world renowned French Pastry School in Chicago. She worked at the Paris Hotel & Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, Payard Patisserie & Bistro in NYC, Executive Pastry Chef at The Ballantyne Hotel & owned a famous patisserie in Chicago. She has been seen on the Food Network on 4 occasions and was recently featured in Pastry Arts & Design Magazine. Chef Keli moved to LKN in 2016 with her husband Tony, and saw a need for a local bakery. With over a year of planning, testing recipes and searching for the perfect location, Bakery 28 became a reality on March 9, 2020. Bakery 28 specializes in Custom Cakes, French Macarons and French-style pastry. Chef Keli's background includes working with some of the top French Pastry Chefs in the US, which is where her European influenced sweets menu comes from. Her menu also reflects seasonal products she sources from local farmers - so during Strawberry & Blueberry season the visit to Bakery 28 is well worth it! And then when apple, quince and sweet potatoes come around....Chef Keli will have plenty more to tempt your tastebuds! Come in for Black Powder Coffee & a treat or sit down to enjoy a Gourmet Dessert Waffle made fresh to order!
