Burlington Christian Academy, founded in 1978, is one of the largest nonpublic schools in Alamance County with more than 500 students. The school offers educational and extracurricular programs for students from grades prekindergarten through eight. It has students representing more than 150 churches in the community, including Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, Nazarene, Wesleyan, Catholic, Church of Christ, Pentecostal, Lutheran, Episcopal, Seventh Day Adventist and Assembly of God. BCA has sports teams playing in the Triad Christian Conference which include basketball, volleyball, soccer, tennis, golf, baseball and cheerleading. The school also offers classes in Spanish, music, computer, sign language, dance, drama, handbells, and cooking. It provides a variety of activities to its students, including spelling bee, math olympics, science fair, student government, National Junior Beta Club and mission projects.
