BSN-Jobst creates stockings that provide compression therapy for the care and management of venous and lymphatic diseases, including varicose veins, deep vein thrombosis, chronic venous insufficiency, venous ulcers, peripheral edemas and lymphedema. The Jobst brandis recognized and requested by health care professionals and patients worldwide. Jobst stockings originated with founder Conrad Jobst in 1950. Beiersdorf AG, of Hamburg, Germany, acquired Jobst in August 1990. The acquisition included the Jobst headquarters and manufacturing sites in Toledo, Ohio, plus manufacturing operations in Hildebran, N.C., and Thurles, Ireland. Beiersdorf AG also acquired Varitex in Germany. Varitex was renamed JOBST in 1996. In April 2001, the business was renamed BSN-Jobst as it became an affiliate company of BSNMedical. BSNMedical is a joint venture holding company equally owned by Smith & Nephew and Beiersdorf.
