The North Carolina Department of Correction protects the safety of citizens in communities throughout North Carolina by providing alternatives and supervision to offenders placed in its custody. It employs a staff of more than 40 officers. The department maintains the community corrections division that is responsible for the supervision of adult offenders on probation, parole and post-release parole supervision.
