As I went through my younger explorative years, I was always drawn to science and math, yet knew I would not be fulfilled in a laboratory or research environment. Applying science and medicine to patient care stood out to me as a more compelling and rewarding way of life. My philosophy of care mirrors that of current society as a whole, in that patients have the freedom and empowerment to make decisions and learn their bodies and their new found concerns, with me as a guide. I can provide insight and direction, and at times intervention, where it is required. There are always choices and options to consider, and each individual should have these available to learn and choose their independent direction. When I am not at work, my wife and I enjoy our farm with many of our off-duty activities surrounding our horses. We enjoy to ride as well as to attend horse shows and rodeos, especially out West. Our travels and times with our five children make up much of our free time, as they are all grown, yet exploring the world themselves. I also enjoy other simple pleasures such as reading, golf and card-playing with friends.
