The Solid Waste Division specializes in the collection and disposition of solid waste items. The Solid Waste Division is a part of the General Services Department, which is operated by the government of the City of Gastonia in North Carolina. The General Services Department is responsible for the maintenance and construction of city-owned facilities. The department offers pickup solutions for paint cans, loose leaves, building materials, electronic appliances, mattresses and box springs. It repairs and maintains more than 160 city-owned buildings. The department offers painting, carpentry, plumbing and janitorial services through its building maintenance division. The General Services Department also offers recycling and yard waste and garbage collection services.
