Founded in 1867, Barber-Scotia College is a coeducational liberal arts institution. The college is affiliated with Presbyterian Church. It was founded as Scotia Seminary to provide learning opportunities for women desiring to be teachers and social workers. Barber-Scotia College is approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. Its campus includes a gymnasium, chapel house, tennis courts and athletic fields. The college helps in the intellectual, physical, emotional, social and spiritual development of students. Its academic curriculum includes communications, mathematics, science, social science, humanities, computer applications and physical education. The college organizes various special events.
