I am a clinician educator and enjoy working in the clinical setting with learners of different levels, from third and fourth-year medical students to residents and fellows. My style of teaching is based on a learner-centered model of outpatient instruction in which the preceptor is more of a facilitator and guide, and the learner is taught to lead and to verbalize their thinking and reasoning and move away from a passive role. I also run the UNC Adult Latino Rheumatology clinic where I take care of Latino individuals with rheumatic diseases and collaborates with clinical research projects in the Latino population.
