The Friends of Island Academy, also known as FOIA, serves at-risk youths through antiviolence programs. The organization offers counseling, educational and mentoring services. It operates a variety of job training and youth leadership development programs. The organization has been in operation since 1990 and serves more than 250 men and women. The Friends of Island Academy s Fathering Initiative program includes case management and housing services. It is a nonprofit organization that accepts donations from individuals and institutions. The organization s young adult program guides individuals between the ages of 17 and 21. In addition, the Friends of Island Academy provides resources for children with special needs.
