YWCA Jamestown
Established in 1884, the YWCA of Jamestown, also known as the Young Woman's Christian Association of Jamestown, provides educational and spiritual classes, as well as assistance with the financial needs of women and children. It offers an after-school program that emphasizes assistance with homework, hands-on learning and recreational activities in partnership with Jamestown Public Schools and Chautauqua Striders. The Young Woman's Christian Association of Jamestown also provides volunteer-based social services that include fund collections, Meals on Wheels, and breast cancer and domestic violence awareness programs. It offers transitional housing options for disadvantaged youth, children and women. It also conducts several summer camps, including canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, gardening, field trips, and arts and crafts for youths in the age group of 6 and 12. Additionally, the association conducts teenage education and motherhood training sessions. The Young Woman's Christian Association of Jamestown is located in Jamestown, N.Y.
