About: Founded in 1988, the Westchester Land Trust is a nonprofit environmental organization, committed to land preservation — scenic, wildlife, recreational, watershed areas and open spaces — in communities around Westchester County.
Its 10-member staff advises municipalities on land-use policies and facilitates the creation of new parks and preserves. It partners with private property owners as well to save existing pockets of pristine land.
Since its inception, it has successfully protected 7,400 acres in 28 towns in the county.
