A Long Beach native, Harvey Weisenberg was elected to the New York State Assemby in 1989. He was elected to the Long Beach City Council in 1976 and served as its president in 1977 and 1980. For 20 years he was both a teacher and administrator, after he was a police officer in the Long Beach Police Department. He was also a supervisor at the Recreation Department and a chief lifeguard examiner.
Weisenberg is a member of several organizations, including Lions Club, Kiwanis, Long Beach Chamber of Commerce, Nassau County Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Long Beach Breast Cancer Coalition, Long Island Arthritis Foundation, March of Dimes and the U.S. Lifeguard Association.
He received a B.S. from New York University in 1958 and an M.S.Ed. from Hofstra University in 1960, and also a P.D.A. in 1981 from C.W. Post Long Island University.
