University at Buffalo has been operational for more than 100 years. One of the leading providers of higher education, UB merged with the State University of New York in 1962. Founded as a private medical college, it offers many bachelor's and master's degree programs in subjects, such as business administration, aerospace, chemical and civil engineering, computer science, economics, electrical engineering, geography, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, and sociology. The university also offers various interdisciplinary majors, special programs, creative and performing arts scholarships, advanced honors programs, and an honors special major in liberal arts. The UB library houses several digital resources, special collections, and undergraduate and university archives. It carries more than 3 million volumes, including journals, periodicals, research databases, weekly subscriptions, manuscripts, collections of letters and other memorabilia. The university is located in Buffalo, N.Y.
