Founded in 1960, United Federation of Teachers, also known as UFT, represents more than 228,000 individuals. The organization conducts workshops and offers a range graduate-level courses for more than 30,000 members annually. In affiliation with the New York City Department of Education it administers the Dial-A-Teacher program, which includes homework assistance to more than 75,600 public school students and parents annually. United Federation of Teachers also administers the Supplemental Educational Services program, which includes free tutoring and supplemental academic enrichment services. It also provides counseling services and assistance with health information. United Federation of Teachers is affiliated with the 600,000-member New York State United Teachers
