The Tuckahoe Housing Authority, incorporated in 1938, administers 175 Section 8 housing-choice vouchers a year with funding from the capital fund program. The vouchers provide low-income families, individuals, senior citizens and the disabled with decent, safe and sanitary housing. A subsidy is paid to a landlord, and the tenant pays the difference between the actual rent and the subsidy. The Tuckahoe Housing Authority also provides 150 units of public housing.
Its executive director is Irina Matveevskii.
