On tree-lined Fisher Avenue, across the street from the Post Office, Tu Pais Deli is the neighborhood corner market. If you checked, you'd probably find at least one customer inside from the time it opens up at 6:30am to midnight, when it closes, seven days a week. It gets busy around meal times. Tu Pais makes sandwiches and serves things hot off the grill. It has hot-table staples and Jamaican beef patties. There's a nice selection of canned goods, walls of beverages, a selection of imported condiments, milk, butter and eggs. And if you ever need duct tape or an extension chord at an odd time of day or night, it's nice to know that Tu Pais stocks them, too. Most customers take food out. But there are a few seats at the counter, where people read, phone, or look out at the sidewalk.
