History
Our story begins with Gin. From our inception in 2011 we started with our flagship gins: Dorothy Parker, a New York Gin, and Perry's Tot, a Naval Strength Gin. The philosophy was to be both purposeful and original, rooted in a classic cocktail usage methodology- gins developed with a specific versatility for a range of mixed drinks. Our Whiskey Trail starts in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. In 2011, a year before we started distilling whiskey, we began an integral relationship with the Pederson Family Farm who still provide the Rye used in our whiskey. Rye, along with Corn and Barley, are brought to Warwick, New York where they are distilled and aged in 53 gallon barrels for a minimum of 3 years. Once our Master Distiller and Co-Founders feel the barrels have the necessary flavor profile, the barrels are brought to Brooklyn for blending and bottling in the distillery attached to the Shanty.
Specialties
The Shanty is a full-service bar connected to our distillery. Offering a full complement of cocktails, we feature our Rye Whiskies (Ragtime Rye) and Gins (Dorothy Parker, Perry's Tot, & Chief Gowanus) as well as favorites from around the world and rotating draft list highlighting local beers. With a generous Happy Hour, weekly events, and a lowkey vibe, The Shanty is a great spot for a drink anytime, especially pre or post dinner.
