Literacy Volunteers of Chautauqua County (LVCC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the community by providing free literacy instruction to local residents. Through one-on-one and small group tutoring, LVCC helps individuals gain crucial skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening to English. The Next Chapter Bookstore, operated by LVCC, is the only bookstore in Fredonia, offering a wide selection of used and vintage books. 100% of the proceeds from book sales directly fund LVCC's free literacy programs.
With approximately 1 in 5 adults functionally illiterate in Chautauqua County and a significant number of non-English speaking households, LVCC's mission is to improve the lives of community members by promoting literacy. Their volunteer tutors provide free tutoring services in various subjects, including reading, English language, math, finance, and GED preparation. By supporting LVCC and purchasing books from The Next Chapter Bookstore, individuals contribute to the advancement of literacy in the community.
