Founded in 1875, The Art Students League of New York is an atelier school that offers courses in fine arts and trains and supports artists. It provides educational classes that focus in the areas of drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking and assemblage. The organization conducts workshops and exhibition programs, as well as provides residency and apprenticeship services to its students. The Art Students League of New York offers more than 130 courses for over 2,600 individuals and employs a faculty of nearly 80 artists. Its facilities feature bronze foundries, metal forges, walk-in kilns and welding shops. The organization s students also participate in lectures and seminars presented by famous artists. With one of its locations in New York City, The Art Students League of New York also maintains a campus in Sparkill, N. Y.
