Temple Beth Shalom is a reformed synagogue with a liberal and inclusive congregation of more than 400 families. Rabbi Edward Schecter stresses that all are welcome at Temple Beth Shalom. Regular services are held Friday evenings at 7:30pm, and special services are held for all major Jewish Holidays. Rabbi Schecter also performs wedding ceremonies, Bar and Bat Mitzvas and other life cycle ceremonies.
In conjunction with the synagogue, Temple Beth Shalom has a nursery shool for children ages 2, 3 and 4, run by Judith Michael. Although it is a Jewish nursery school, it is open to both members and non-members. The youth program runs though high school, and promises a Jewish education that is both engaging and rewarding for its students.
Adult education is also available, with such courses as: Biblical Hebrew, conversational Hebrew, discussion groups with the Rabbi, Jewish history and an introduction to Judaism.
Rabbi Schecter's warm and welcoming personality is apparent upon first meeting, and congregants agree that Temple Beth Shalom offers more than just a religious sanctuary -- it is a complete Jewish community.
