Long Island's oldest synagogue, Temple Adas Israel was founded in 1883. It is affiliated with the Union for Reform Judiasm.
Hebrew School for ages 5 to 13 takes place Mondays at 3:30pm. Shabbat evening service is held Fridays at 6pm, and morning service is held Saturdays at 10am. Child care is offered during High Holy Day services. The synagogue also holds adult Hebrew education classes and Torah classes. There are family potlucks, and Temple Adas Israel works with the Children's Museum of the East End and Bay Street Theatre.
There is a Caring Program for visiting the sick and comforting mourners.
In December, the synagogue collects children's books and creates menorahs out of them for Chanukah, then donates the books to Wings Over Haite School.
