The Office of Health Education is an outreach branch of the Suffolk County Health Department whose aim is to educate the public. It provides educational programs for school districts and interested community organizations. Topics include the cessation and prevention of tobacco use, nutrition and physical activity, HIV/AIDs, and sexually transmitted diseases and infections. It offers free tobacco cessation classes at several locations. The classes are open to the public and no registration is required. See the website for details.
The Office of Health Education also takes responsibility for enforcement of laws and regulations related to tobacco, such as the clean air law that prohibits smoking in restaurants and other food-serving venues.
