St Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church is a daughter church of St Nicholas of Myra, Yonkers. Originally a 7-acre estate with a carriage house, the land was renovated to serve as a chapel. A new church was dedicated in 1987.
Nicholas was born during the third century in a Greek village that is now part of Turkey. By the sixth century, stories about him made him a popular protector of seaman and eventually his legend grew and changed into today's Santa Claus.
