St. Luke's Lutheran Church and Academy was founded 141 years ago by German immigrants. Today's congregants are of African descent whose mission is "building ministries to uplift a generation." Worship services are at 11 a.m. on Sunday in the 1894 church building, with communion celebrated on the first and third Sundays of the month. Bible study is offered on Thursdays at 7 p.m. St. Luke's Academy is in its 25th year as a pre-school for children ages 2 to 5.
