Somers' town hall since 1927, The Elephant Hotel is the seat of the local government as well as home to the Historical Society. Most of the town offices are located here -- the town clerk, the assessor, the receiver of taxes and much more. The building is a National Historic Landmark built by Hachaliah Bailey in the early 19th Century and named after his beloved elephant "Old Bet." You can't miss the three story brick Federal style structure in the center of town.
