Founded in 1956, Solomon Schechter School of Queens offers a variety of educational and extracurricular programs to students in prekindergarten through grade eight. The school provides classes in various subjects, including math, science and technology, English, social studies, language arts, health education, arts and crafts, music and physical education. It organizes various sports clubs and extracurricular activities, such as essay contests on Zionism, Hebrew spelling bee and Bible contests. The school has a fully equipped library that offers a large collection of Judaic and general studies books, encyclopedias, periodicals, audiovisual reference materials and access to the Internet. It also provides transportation and an extended day program. The school is sponsored by the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, and is affiliated with the Solomon Schechter Day School Association. Located in Flushing, N.Y., Solomon Schechter School of Queens enrolls more than 400 students.
