Sequins International is a family-owned and operated business. Established by Sydney Gladstone in 1941 as Quality Braid Dress Trims, it has grown both in size and number of markets served. Initially, as the name implies, Quality Braid Dress Trims served the garment trade. In 1945, the company began manufacturing sequins trimmings. In addition to its use as dress trims, sequin trimmings are staples of the theatrical trade. Gladstone worked hard developing this new market and his wife, Mildred, contributed to the effort by managing the factory. By the end of the decade, costume manufacturers nationwide were using Quality Braid's sequin trimmings. After officially changing its name to Sequins International in 1993, the bulk of Sequin's manufacturing capability resides in an 85,000-square-foot manufacturing and office facility located in Woodside, N.Y. Over 425 pieces of equipment, some over 70 feet long and 15 feet high, are used to manufacture the various products.
