The Barnum Woods Elementary School on May Ln. houses the East Meadow SCOPE program. Founded in 1964, SCOPE is a not-for-profit, private organization chartered by the New York State Board of Regents to provide services to schools districts. It was developed by school superintendents, educating parents and teachers and involves children's summer care and after school programs. At SCOPE, children are provided with a safe, fun, educational environment, with games, arts and crafts, sports and healthy snacks. Tuition rates vary, depending on the daily schedule required.
