The Anthony J. Posillipo Community Center supports a transportation program for the senior residents of the Village. A 20 passenger handicapped-accessible bus picks-up at the center for local errands, grocery shopping and medical appointments.
Door-to-door transportation is available to and from the Anthony J. Posillipo Community Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Early pickup is at 9 am and participants arrive at AJP by approximately 9:30 am. The early ride gets Villagers there in time for part of the exercise class, craft class and other early morning activities. The bus makes a second trip at 10 am, which arrives at the center around 10:30 am. Departure for home is at 2 pm. The fee for this service is $.50 each way.
Grocery shopping service is available on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10:30 am. The bus picks up passengers at home or at the center and travels to either the A&P or Pathmark store in Port Chester. The fee for this service is $.50 each way.
Most Wednesdays, the Rye Brook Seniors use the bus to go on a special outing. The day is reserved for a trip to Arthur Avenue in the Bronx, a ride to the movie theater, a trip to one of the various malls in the area, an outing to a museum either in NYC or surrounding communities or some other excursion. The time of departure varies, as does the fee charged. All trips are limited to 20 people.
