Founded in 1872, Riverdale Neighborhood House is a nonsectarian, multipurpose social services organization that provides a range of educational, transitional housing and medical care services for socioeconomic, racial and ethnic groups. It provides character building programs for teenagers, as well as support for families and senior citizens. The organization features a lounge, swimming pool, and basketball and tennis courts, as well as a recreational area that includes a pool table, air hockey and video games. Riverdale Neighborhood House offers full-time child care services for children up to the age of 4 and teaches through storytelling, block building, dramatic play, music, and arts and crafts activities. It also provides a range of academic and extracurricular programs for students in kindergarten through grade six. Additionally, the organization offers respite care caregiver instruction, and individual and group counseling services. Riverdale Neighborhood House is located in Bronx, N.Y.
