Rebekah Lauren Wallach, PT
After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Biology Education from the University of Delaware, Rebekah Wallach received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Stony Brook University. Following graduation, she gained extensive experience at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), in the Sports Performance & Rehabilitation Center, Joint Mobility Center, and Acute Care Recovery Unit, managing patients with orthopedic and rheumatological conditions. Thereafter, expanding on her valuable leadership and clinical experiences, Dr. Wallach joined the Columbia University Department of Rehabilitation and Regenerative Medicine. At Columbia, Dr. Wallach continues to develop her wide range of skills and ability, as she specializes in orthopedic, spine, and scoliosis rehabilitation, in addition to seeing patients with gait disorders and peri-partum or post-partum patients. Given this focus, Dr. Wallach has completed the required components of a Level 2 certified physical therapist for the advanced treatment of scoliosis through the Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School (based on the Schroth Method) and the Scientific approach to Scoliosis (SEAS). As a Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, Dr. Wallach continues to further her orthopedic knowledge and skills through participating in regular continuing education courses, as well as mentoring students at the Columbia University Programs in Physical Therapy, serving as a clinical instructor, and teaching numerous lectures on management of patients with scoliosis, across the lifespan. Dr. Wallach has participated in numerous opportunities to present on specialized topics at the Columbia University Conservative Treatment in Scoliosis Conference and the Columbia University Programs in Physical Therapy, while continuing to collaborate with the Columbia Orthopedic Conservative Spine & Scoliosis Care Team for the development of treatment guidelines and research initiatives for scoliosis Care Team for the development of treatment guidelines and research initiatives for scoliosis-specific patient care. Dr. Wallach prides herself on individualized patient care to develop comprehensive treatment plans, utilizing patient education and self-empowerment, manual therapy and facilitation techniques, and functional therapeutic exercise to help her patients in reaching their goals. In addition to clinical work, Rebekah enjoys volunteering in her community as a girl scout troop leader and youth lacrosse & soccer coach. Outside of the clinic, Rebekah loves to be outdoors - hiking, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
