Founded in 1948, Reece School is one of the oldest, nonprofit, special education elementary schools in New York City. The school provides programs for more than 90 students with speech and language impairments in kindergarten through grade six. It operates a library and its academic curriculum includes math, English, science and social studies. In addition, the school offers instruction in visual and performing arts through its music, drama and art programs. Reece School was chartered by the state of New York in 1955. The school also operates a gymnasium and provides speech and occupational therapies. It offers medical and food services.
