The Puerto Rican Family Institute, founded in 1960, is a nonprofit, family-orientated health and human service agency that serves the Latino community. The institute offers an array of social and health care services, such as mental health treatment, crisis intervention, placement prevention, residential care and education. Its services additionally include child foster programs and HIV/AIDS care. The institute is supported by the Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, Anheuser-Busch Companies, Merrill Lynch, Washington Mutual and Viacom. In addition, it is sponsored by Flushing Savings Bank, Brad Goldsman & Associates and Panasonic. The Puerto Rican Family Institute operates more than 20 programs throughout New York, New Jersey and Puerto Rico.
