New Settlement is a community-based organization in New York City that has been dedicated to revitalizing the neighborhood and improving public education for over 26 years. Through a collaborative partnership with the NYC Department of Education, School Construction Authority, and other community leaders, New Settlement opened the New Settlement Community Campus in 2012. This campus consists of three public schools and an adjoining community center, providing a range of programs in health, education, youth development, and the arts to students, families, and members of the surrounding community.
The New Settlement Community Campus, located in the low-income Mt. Eden neighborhood of the Southwest Bronx, serves over 1,100 students from kindergarten to twelfth grade. With state-of-the-art facilities, including indoor gyms, a library, health clinic, and outdoor playgrounds, the campus offers a comprehensive educational experience. The community center, spanning 28,000 square feet, features an indoor Aquatics Center with a large swimming pool and a green roof with a garden. Through their commitment to community engagement and collaboration, New Settlement continues to make a positive impact on the lives of children and families in the Bronx.
