The Plainview Old Bethpage Public Library provides the residents of the Plainview Old Bethpage School District with a broad range of information resources.
The library was authorized by voters in 1955 and soon after co-occupied the school library at the Jamaica Avenue School for two years. In 1957, the library moved to rented stores in the Morton Village Shopping Center. It remained there until the new building, across the street at 999 Country Road, was opened in 1963.
There are also many cultural enrichment programs, as well as free WiFi. In recent years a state-of-the-art auditorium has been added, providing a great venue for public meetings and a wide array of free cultural offerings.
There are thousands of volumes in the library, including documents on local history.
There are copiers, fax machines and computers available for public use.
