Contrasting sharply with its Fifth Avenue surroundings, the building's exterior recalls a nautilus shell, while inside, the Rotunda spirals upward seven floors, inviting visitors to experience art in an uncommon way. Tours led by gallery educators depart the main floor daily at 2 p.m. Cold and rainy days attract more people. The Thannhauser Collection was bequeathed to the Guggenheim in 1978, and includes masterpieces by Picasso, van Gogh, Monet, Seurat and others. To view the Rotunda's current exhibition, whatever it may be, begin on the top floor and walk down the sloping ramp. This is the best way to get the most out of the combination of art and architecture.Admission to the Guggenheim MuseumAdult admission is $25. Members get in free; guests of members receive 50% off. Visitors pay what they wish on Saturday evenings. Students and seniors receive a discount, and children under 12 enter for free. Guided tours and audio tours are free.
