The Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, also known as OMRDD, provides support services for more than 125,000 individuals with developmental disabilities. The organization works with a network of over 800 nonprofit agencies and offers counseling, crisis intervention and therapy programs. It also organizes day, evening, weekend and overnight camps and conducts recreational and social activities. The Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities provides employment services, including job coaching, placement, and vocational and travel training. In addition, the organization offers family support services for the parents, siblings and relatives of disabled people. It provides financial assistance, housing, parent advocacy and transportation options.
