Although Our Lady of the Snow was established in the early 1900s, the church was not built until 1917. It was a mission church of St. Francis de Sales until 1920, when the Diocese of Brooklyn created a parish of Our Lady of the Snow with the appointment of Fr. Charles A. Craig as pastor. The rectory was completed in Blue Point in 1921. In addition to approximately six masses weekly (less in the summer), Our Lady of the Snow provides parishioners with the opportunity to become involved in the numerous ministries and organizations they have available, such as Adult Bible Sharing and the Ecumenical Committee. Our Lady of the Snow is unusual in that there are two buildings in which masses are held: the small church, twice a week, and the large church, for more heavily attended masses.
