History
Our Kids Place (OKP) has been operating out of the Rosedale Jewish Center since 1991 (which is located in Community School District # 29) and is under its current ownership since 2006. We recently moved to our new location in Nov. 2013. While many of the families we serve are lower income, a significant proportion are lower middle class working parents who not only need early childcare and educational services, but need them beyond the traditional 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM hours which is usually offered by early child care organizations. As a result of this need, we offer extended hour early childhood services (6:30 AM to 6:30 PM) and a before and after school-age program to accommodate the working class families who are unable to pickup and drop off their children. We currently serve approximateley 100 families. We also provide on-site activities which includes piano, dance, gym, and langauge training to assist parents who are unable to expose their children due to extended working hours.
Specialties
Our Kids Place (OKP) has been an integral part of the community we serve for 20+ years. Our mission is to create an environment that is conducive to healthy learning for all of the children we serve. Our primary goals are to help our children to: 1) Become independent thinkers and problem solvers and to develop a love of learning and discovery; 2) Be creative, expressive, talented, and responsible; 3) Develop self-esteem and respect for others. OKP believes that high quality early childhood educational programming focuses on the whole child, focusing instruction and curriculum on the social, emotional, physical, creative, expressive and cognitive development of children. Our center employs only well-trained, qualified, experienced early childhood professionals. Each member of our teaching staff is assigned to classrooms according to mandates issued by the Department of Health, Department of Education, and Administration for Children's Services.
