In 1962 they purchased the Lexington Avenue School in Gloversville, which became a sheltered workshop for young adults with developmental disabilities. In 1969 Lexington began serving adults with mental illness and physical disabilities and in 1972 opened it's first home for people with developmental disabilities. In the 1970's Lexington provided home and day program opportunities for people living in state institutions. Lexington began its Family Services Program in 1985 providing support for families caring for children and adults with disabilities who live at home.Lexington continues to expand and diversify while remaining deeply committed to its core values and mission of excellence " making Lexington a great place for people with disabilities and for our employees.
