Sylvia A. Reyes, MD, MBS, FACS is a fellowship-trained Breast Surgeon with board certification in General Surgery. She earned her medical degree and a master of biomedical sciences degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS). She then completed a clinical research fellowship in breast surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, a residency in general surgery at NJMS, and a clinical fellowship in breast surgical oncology at the University of Pennsylvania Abramson Cancer Center. Having recently joined Northwell, Dr. Reyes works in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of physicians and support staff at the Northwell Cancer Institute to ensure that patients receive the most advanced and appropriate breast cancer treatment, with a focus on holistic, equitable patient-centered care, as part of a personalized care plan. As a surgeon, she performs oncoplastic breast conserving surgery, nipple sparing mastectomies, and hidden scar surgery for benign and malignant breast disease. She has published in reputable journals and been recognized for her clinical research in breast cancer and health disparities. Dr. Reyes serves as the Director of Breast Services Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the Northwell Cancer Institute in New Hyde Park, NY and is an active member of the Health Equity Advisory Group for the American Society of Breast Surgeons. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.
