The roots of Northeastern Office Equipment go back to a humble beginning in 1955 when our founder, Harry Williams opened up the North Shore Typewriter Company in Port Washington, New York. The dealership was started selling Royal typewriters and related accessories. In 1957, in order to capitalize on the relatively new and growing copier market, Mr. Williams founded Northeastern Office Equipment Company and opened a modest office in Huntington Station, and began selling the first copier made by NORD & ANKEN. As the marketplace began to grow, so did Northeastern. In the early years, many of the copier placements were in major accounts, such as Grumman Aerospace, Republic Aviation, and the New York Telephone Company. Because of these high demand and high exposure installations, Norhteastern's emphasis was placed on customer service. This proved to be a wise policy and much of the company's growth and success has come from major accounts.
