Established in 1888, the Northeast Parent & Child Society offers community-based services and programs for low-income individuals and families. It provides assistance with housing, transportation, and budget and household management. The organization offers training related to parenting and anger and stress management, as well as provides individual, group and family counseling services. The Northeast Parent & Child Society provides foster care and adoption services. Additionally, it offers medical care, psychological assessment and therapeutic activities, as well as serves individuals with depression, trauma, and attention deficit hyperactivity, mood and anxiety disorders. The organization also provides case management services and offers classes related to social, developmental and independent living skills development. The Northeast Parent & Child Society maintains emergency shelters for children and group homes for adults between the ages of 14 and 21. It maintains an office in Schenectady, N.Y.
