Established in 1917, New York State Police is a full-service law enforcement agency that maintains social order and peace. It offers services for the protection of residents lives and property, as well as deterrence, detection and investigation of criminal activities. New York State Police is nationally accredited by the New York State Law Enforcement Accreditation Council. The agency operates an academy that provides services to more than 14,000 personnel annually. The academy provides instruction in areas of criminal investigation, forensics and other topical issues to the members of other police departments and outside agencies. New York State Police maintains a station in Albany, N.Y.
