Established in 1778, the New York State Department of State defends public's safety and protects and develops local communities. The department administers beauty salons, business corporations and entities and boxing activities. The New York State Department of State s customers include financial communities and attorneys, as well as offers code enforcement services. The department also licenses a variety of professions and occupations, including private investigators and notaries. It provides administrative support services for several offices, such as the State Commission on Public Integrity, State Athletic Commission and Committee on Open Government.
