Established in 1934, the New York City Housing Authority one of the largest public housing authorities in North America that provides affordable housing in a safe living environment for low- and moderate-income residents throughout the New York. It administers a citywide Section 8 Leased Housing Program in rental apartments. The agency offers several opportunities for its residents to participate in a variety of community, educational and recreational programs, as well as job readiness and training initiatives.
