With over 30 languages spoken at the school, P.S. 217 Colonel Marcus David School is home to a diverse student body ranging from kindergarten through 5th grade. A small universal pre-K program is also housed in the building. P.S. 217 is an International School of Arts and Letters, with an extensive arts enrichment program. Children are given many opportunities to explore music, creative writing and art. Students in the 4th and 5th grades perform major musical theater productions twice a year. A new garden on the campus is used as a teaching tool, and is cared for by students as well as parent volunteers. In partnership with the Flatbush Development Corporation, an after-school program is available for a limited number of students.
