Neary's opened on St. Patrick's Day 1967 and proudly remains one of the most well-known Irish restaurants in New York. Jimmy Neary, New York's finest host, ran the restaurant for 55 years and now his daughter, Una, is carrying on her father’s legacy. Neary’s celebrated its 57th year on St. Patrick’s Day 2024. To learn more about the Neary story, there is a documentary entitled "A Dream at the End of the Rainbow", produced and directed by famed sports photographer and documentarian, Neil Leifer, available on Amazon Prime that you should watch! It beautifully depicts Jimmy living the American dream. Jimmy was also honored by the City of New York with the co-naming of the street where is restaurant is located as “Jimmy Neary Way!” Neary's signature dishes include the lamb chops, prime rib of beef, corned beef and cabbage and the broiled 1/2 chicken. In addition, there is a fine selection of daily delivered fresh fish. The Irish coffee and homemade rice pudding are a must for dessert.
