History
Monks was founded by Chris Kim and Rebecca Lopez-Howes in 2012. Monks grew from a lifetime passion for vegetables and plant based food. Starting in August 2012, Monks began selling Monks Meats through local healthy grocery stores. In August 2013, Monks opened a booth at Smorgasburg.
Specialties
Monks specializes in plant based protein food. Our signature product is Monks Meats seitan. We sell Monks Meats through local health food stores, supply seitan to local restaurants, and run a stand serving sandwiches and snacks at the Smorgasburg food market. All our products are dairy free and animal product free. We use fresh, local, and organic ingredients.
